Do You Need a French Drain or Just a Downspout Extension?
A downspout extension is often enough when roof runoff is simply discharging too close to the house, and the rest of the property drains reasonably well. A French drain tends to make more sense when water collects repeatedly in one area, the yard stays soggy well after rain, or a downspout adjustment on its own won't fix the broader drainage picture. Sometimes the answer is both. We don't recommend a system based on the name of the problem; we base it on how water is actually moving on your property.
